Our Rewards System
At Gelli Primary School we feel that is important that our children feel valued and are rewarded appropriately for contributing positively to our school ethos. We operate the following rewards system which enables each child to gain credits for making Gelli Primary School a safe and secure environment for our children to learn in.
Our aim is -
  • to encourage every pupil to work to his/her best ability across the curriculum
  • to reward a consistently good effort or outstanding piece of work
  • to raise academic standards in the School by conspicuously valuing outstanding effort and achievement

Our School Rewards Policy

CLASSROOM INITIATIVES
The Staff and Students are encouraged to reward our children by
  • Verbal and Written Praise
  • Pupil sent to Subject Leader, Key Stage Leader and or Head teacher.
  • Merit stickers and or certificates
  • Notes home from teacher
  • Recognition on the school and or class blog.

HEAD TEACHER AWARDS
Each week the Class teachers nominate two pupils from their class to receive the Head teacher award. This award is in the form of a certificate which is presented to them in our celebration assembly each Friday morning. The Certificate, and sticker is also sent home. The head teacher award winners are also recognised in our weekly newsletters and on with their photograph on the Head teacher awards blog. Click HERE to go to this site

ATTENDANCE INITIATIVES
Attendance and punctuality is very important to us at Gelli Primary. We encourage each pupil to attend regularly and to be punctual. Each week give the responsibility of looking after our school mascot "Barney the Barnardo Bear" to the class who have the highest weekly percentage attendance.

Pupils with 100% attendance each year are given recognition in our closing assembly of the year and receive a token as a reward.

HOUSE POINTS
"House points" are given for positive behaviour and good work. Teachers, Support Staff and Students award points to pupils throughout the week. Pupils are also given a special WHITE HEAD TEACHER HOUSE POINT TOKEN for being a good role model. Each Friday Mr. Hughes announces which house has received the most points. House Captains receive the House Point Cup which is held in each class in turn.
